Feel rushed every damn morning? Take a little time out for yourself – and become way more productive – with this quick morning meditation.

Imagine how it fantastic it would feel to wake up bursting with energy.
To start your day knowing you’re gonna kill it.
To feel full of vitality, ready to take on the world.
This is what a solid morning routine can do this for us.
I remember the days when I used to wake up groaning.
I didn’t want to get out of bed, since I knew I’d have to rush around trying to get everything done.
Now, I wake up slowly.
I meditate, I practice yoga, and I create. I’m way more intentional; and my days are so much more productive as a result.
How to wake up productive
Productivity is kinda counterintuitive.
Slowing down can actually increase our results; we become more intentional, focused, and effective.
When I started waking up 1-2 hours earlier, I noticed an immediate shift in my productivity.
When I take the time to:
- Meditate
- Practice yoga
- Create from my heart
- Prepare a nourishing breakfast
- Ingest a little soul food (e.g. podcast, video, or audio book)
…Before I start my day, I’m ready to take on the world.
My morning ritual initially began with meditation, and has slowly evolved over time.
Morning meditation practice
If you haven’t meditated before, check out The Ultimate Guide To Meditation For Beginners to get started.
In this practice, we’ll be giving ourselves an awesome morning pep talk, and preparing for a productive day.
This meditation helps us get our energy, focus, and mindset in the right place, so we can use our full power for the rest of the day.
This practice is perfect as part of a daily morning ritual, particularly before any other activity.
Here’s how to do it
Download the guided version of this meditation from my meditation library.
1. Sit in a comfortable seated position, set a timer for 15 minutes (or longer, if you like), and close your eyes or lower your gaze.
2. Take 3 deep breaths, in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Allow the fresh air to cleanse and detoxify your brain, and exhale any energetic debris from the day (or night) before.
3. Practice gratitude. Ask, “what am I grateful for in my life?”, then, “what else could I be grateful for, if I really wanted to be?”. Notice any feelings that arise in your body, and welcome them in.
4. Visualise your perfect day. Imagine if everything went exactly as you wanted it to today; picture it in perfect detail. Imagine how you’ll feel, how others will feel, and what it will look like in its entirety.
5. Allow your mind to expand without any particular focus. Ask, “what do I need to know make this happen?”, and notice what comes up. You may get an answer, or you may not. Just allow thoughts to come and go.
Try this: once you’ve made meditation a daily habit, try incorporating other nourishing morning ritual practices into your life.
